You May Relate to Some of These Business Situations…
Example 1: Business is 2 years old and the owner is feeling it is a failure because they expected it to be generating a really good income by now. But all it is doing is consuming evenings and weekends and no sign of improving.
Overnight success, despite what you see in the media is NOT the norm.
It takes on average 3 years. There is an uncanny phenomenon, no matter what the business or industry…at the 3 year mark, things really start picking up. This is because you have enough past customers out there talking about you, you have a big enough client base to keep you going and you have worked out your marketing strategy.
So if you’ve been in business less than 3 years and things are slower than you like…welcome to the real world! This is the NORM! Don’t feel bad.
I was an overnight success in the media. I had an unknown business ticking along at maybe $20K/yr if lucky and in one year we won contracts worth $900K. Boom! BUT…people didn’t realise I had been doing it hard for 10 years to get in a position to win those contracts!
The trick is to do everything you can to have the right systems, product and marketing in place to prevent you taking 5 years or going broke before you achieve the income you need.

Example 2. The business is going quite well but the owner feels it can do much better. The issue is what to work on first in the business to get the best return on investment?
I find business owners usually know where the gaps are or where the wheels have fallen off, however it takes experience to know what to focus on first and how.
Based on my experience of troubleshooting my own businesses and 100’s of others, plus a few diagnostic tools I’ve developed, I can very quickly identify the most pressing issues to sort out.

A common cause of insufficient profit is incorrect pricing. The result is a business owner that is increasing sales but still failing to see enough money in the hand at the end of the month. I’ve noticed that this is fundamentally due to insufficient or accurate knowledge of what their product/service really costs to deliver. Therefore the sale price is too low.
I can show you how to confirm your true costs, help you workout what you should (and can) charge, and how to rollout new changes with respect for your existing customers. Sometimes we need to target a different customer to get the profit we need and I can show you how. Either way it is crucial to get your pricing right BEFORE you ramp up your marketing!
MINDSET – It is important to mention that there can be psychological issues around charging higher prices or being paid. We all have opinions and programs around wealth and money and we all have mental ceilings on how much we believe we can earn. If you have any doubts around what you deserve and what you should be paid, then I have to say you need to address these first! Otherwise no matter what you do, no matter how good your marketing, you will NOT see the results you want.

Example 3. The business is confused and in a state of analysis paralysis on what type of marketing to do, what will work best, and how to do it.
Everything you do in business is marketing. I conduct audits of your website (including SEO performance), marketing materials, phone scripts, emails, quotes, guarantees, sales process…every touch point with your customer. And provide you with grades for each, good points and bad points, and what urgently needs fixing.
I also work with you, if required, on your marketing strategy and branding. Or phone and email scripts and sales training for your team – including Business Development training and mentoring. But only after we have confirmed your pricing! See Example 2 above. 🙂
